The adjustment stage that takes place during the first few weeks in a freshman’s life can be quite difficult. New faces, new habits, new responsibilities – these are just some of the things frosh may encounter.
As a meaningful way to help these new members of the Lasallian family, the La Salle Computer Society organized an activity called Frosh CD Distribution last June 2- 6, 2008 in front of the Intellect Seminar Room inside the Gokongwei Building. The main objective of the activity was to give out CDs to freshmen students. These optical disks contain many open source software which can be beneficial to the frosh in their subjects, as well as a copy of the CCS Survival Guide 2008 which contains all the necessary information that will undoubtedly help froshies in the near future, if not in the present time.
While the first forty students who registered at the booth of the event received their CD kits for free, the distribution doesn’t stop there. Other interested students could still avail of the organization’s services if they brought along blank CDs so that the necessary files could be copied into it.
Judging by the number of freshmen students who were able to register and were able obtain a copy of the said CD at the end of the activity, the activity was more than successful. This event just proves that LSCS is always ready to help out fellow CCS students and to aid them in their quest for academic excellence.
