BASICON Tutorial

Held last July 4, 2008 at G201 from 1 pm to 3 in the afternoon, the activity was headed by Audrey Ong, LSCS AVP-Academics.  Nellie Margaret Chua, VP for training and development in the Society of Proactive Role models INspiring Total development (SPRINT) was invited as the speaker of the event. The tutorial aimed to help students to better understand the lessons in the subject BASICON. It also serves as a preparation for the upcoming examinations of the participants by providing them a venue for clarifying and discussing the different topics included in their exams. ...

LSCS First General Assembly

Last July 11, 2008, the La Salle Computer Society held one of its most successful general assemblies in decades. Headed by Elaine De Dios and Maria Franchesca Pacheco, the first general assembly of the organization provided a venue for its members and officers to get together through fun games and interesting activities. Members were given a brief background of LSCS through a brief lecture. Prizes awaited those who won in the games and for those who particated actively throughout the event. A generous share of food and drinks from Pizza Hut was then served to the crowd of hungry people at the end of the activity....

Java Essentials Workshop Part 1

Last June 6, 2008, the La Salle Computer Society had a seminar about Java for students taking object-oriented programming for this term. The activity was spearheaded by Irene Tan, the Vice President for Academics of the organization.The seminar allotted two time slots which catered to two different types of students. The first one, which was from 9am-12nn, mainly had beginning programmers in mind so the topics were not complicated and were made easier to understand. The second one was from 1pm-4pm and a more thorough discussion intended for more advanced students was conducted....

LSCS Teambuilding a Huge Success!

Last May 23-25, 2008, current officers and selected alumni officers of the La Salle Computer Society attended the annual LSCS Teambuilding event held at the Paraisong Dalampasigan Beach Resort, Iba, Zambales. Intended to promote cooperation, interaction, teamwork, understanding, and unity among LSCS officers, the event was full of fun-filled activities, interesting surprises, and memorable moments which had undoubtedly left an indelible memory of cheerfulness in each participants’ lives.The activities that were held during the event included two (2) amazing races – the first one organized by the alumni and the other hosted by the LSCS Core, several group sharings, a bonfire by the beach, and other activities that indirectly helped promote camaraderie among participants. Frosh CD Distribution

The adjustment stage that takes place during the first few weeks in a freshman’s life can be quite difficult. New faces, new habits, new responsibilities – these are just some of the things frosh may encounter. As a meaningful way to help these new members of the Lasallian family, the La Salle Computer Society organized an activity called Frosh CD Distribution last June 2- 6, 2008 in front of the Intellect Seminar Room inside the Gokongwei Building. The main objective of the activity was to give out CDs to freshmen students. These optical disks contain many open source software which can be beneficial to the frosh in their subjects, as well as a copy of the CCS Survival Guide 2008 which contains all the necessary information that will undoubtedly help froshies in the near future, if not in the present time.
